preparing for your mammogram
The following tips will help you prepare for your mammogram.
- If you have not previously been to our office for your mammogram, please request that any prior films be sent to us before your visit. Click here for the release form.
- Try to schedule your mammogram for immediately after your menstrual cycle, so you will not have the breast tenderness that can occur at other times in the cycle.
- On the day of your mammogram, do not use perfumes, bath oils, powders or deodorant. They contain ingredients that can interfere with the clarity of the image.
- It’s best to wear a skirt or pants with a blouse, so you have to remove only one garment for the procedure.
- Your mammogram will take approximately 20 minutes.
- You will need a physician’s order for a mammogram. Your ob/gyn or a primary care provider can arrange this.
- Please verify coverage with your insurance. Co-payment is requested at the time of service.
