Katherine N. Tyson, M.D.

Katherine “Katie” Tyson, M.D. practices at Virginia Women’s Center's St. Mary's Hospital office. Dr. Tyson earned a Bachelor of Science degree, followed by a Master of Education from the University of Virginia. She holds a medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, where she also completed her obstetrics and gynecology internship and residency. Dr. Tyson is a junior fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecology and a member of the Richmond Academy of Medicine.

Medicine is a second career for Dr. Tyson, who worked as a clinical audiologist for Virginia Ear, Nose and Throat Associates before earning her medical degree. At home, a toddler, an infant and two teenage stepchildren keep Dr. Tyson flexible and engaged in the continuum of health. As a result, she is as enthusiastic about delivering babies as she is counseling patients on menopause management.

Marriage, family and her patients are Dr. Tyson’s priorities today. She unwinds by running, cooking and gardening. She also plays classical piano and cello.
