Why I got the COVID-19 vaccine while breastfeeding my baby | Marie Grove, MD

Marie Grove, MD shares how she made the decision to get the COVID vaccine while breastfeeding the newest addition to her family.

Thanks to the guidance of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) and the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ACOG), and the science behind vaccines, I made the decision to get the COVID vaccine—while breastfeeding. I did this for my family, my friends, my patients, and my community. I did it so I can see my extended family again, and see my patient’s full faces without masks. I did this in the hopes that we regain some semblance of normalcy in 2021!

I hesitated to post any pictures of myself on social media. But, then I thought I may inspire other new moms who may be uncertain or hesitant to get the vaccine. Or, at least provoke them to have a conversation with their provider.
