Dr. Katherine Czyszczon (pronounced sizz-ZON) joined Virginia Women’s Center in the summer of 2009.
“Dr. C.” earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. She continued her education at the Medical College of Virginia, where she received her medical degree and completed her internship and residency in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. During her residency, Dr. Czyszczon was awarded the William Langdon Award. This award is given to the resident who demonstrates the greatest personal concern for patients. Dr. Czyszczon is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Dr. Czyszczon is enthusiastic about her education in women’s health care, which has prepared her to work with women of all ages – in all stages. She is an advocate for low-intervention births; however, certain circumstances—such as high-risk pregnancies and multiple gestation births—require expertise she enjoys providing. Dr. Czyszczon has special interest in minimally invasive surgery. Patients for whom surgery is necessary can benefit from her expertise with the daVinci® Surgical System. daVinci® surgeries are robot-assisted and offer many benefits including a shorter hospital stay, less pain and a faster recovery. In addition, Dr. Czyszczon offers BRAC and COLARIS Testing to determine whether an individual has certain hereditary gene mutations that would increase her risk of having certain cancers.
In her spare time, Dr. Czyszczon enjoys running, cooking and spending time with her husband, daughter and son.
